MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Gloria M. Navarro on 9/10/2026. Before the Court is Petitioners' 1 Joint Amended Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus. The Court has reviewed the Petition and preliminary finds that Petitioners may be entitled to habeas relief under the Immigration Nationality Act and the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Accordingly, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Respondents must SHOW CAUSE for Petitioners' detention. See 28 U.S.C. § 2243. Specifically, Respondents must file a "return certifying the true cause of detention" on or before September 17, 2026. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Petitioners must file a traverse no later than September 24, 2026. In addition, Petitioners Nicolas Medina Diaz and Jiwanjot Singh have parallel proceedings pending in this District. Their respective proceedings, in which they are represented by counsel, appear to involve the same claims for habeas relief as the present action. See generally Pet. for Writ of Habeas Corpus, Diaz v. Mullin, No. 2:26-cv-02683-APG-BNW (D. Nev. Aug. 25, 2026) (ECF No. 1-1); Pet. for Writ of Habeas Corpus, Singh v. Mullin, No. 2:26-cv-01493-GMN-NJK (D. Nev. May 14, 2026) (ECF No. 1). IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Counsel for Petitioners must file a notice by September 17, 2026, indicating whether Petitioners intend to (1) proceed with their earlier filed cases and this case in parallel; (2) consolidate this matter with their earlier filed cases; or (3) proceed with a single case for each Petitioner as opposed to both.
