ENDORSED ORDER. Petitioner, an immigration detainee, filed a pro se Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus (Doc. 1). An "[a]pplication for a writ of habeas corpus shall be in writing signed and verified by the person for whose relief it is intended or by someone acting in his behalf." 28 U.S.C. § 2242. Additionally, Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11(a) provides, "Every pleading, written motion, and other paper must be signed by... a party personally if the party is unrepresented." Petitioner failed to sign the Petition. Therefore, the Petition (Doc. 1) is DISMISSED without prejudice, and the Clerk shall terminate any pending motions as moot and close the file. The Clerk shall also send Petitioner a blank petition for writ of habeas corpus form for use in § 2241 cases and an application to proceed in forma pauperis (prisoner filings) form.
