** TEXT ONLY ORDER ** Petitioner has filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2241, stating that BOP officials have denied him time credit under the First Step Act that, if applied, would result in his earlier release. Petitioner has a projected release date of March 10, 2028. The court often affords respondent 30 days to answer a petition seeking this type of relief but, considering the length of this petition and other factors, the court will extend that time to 45 days. It is ORDERED that respondent has until September 8, 2026, to answer the petition. Respondent must address the petition on the merits even if it argues that the petition fails for procedural reasons, and respondent must accompany his answer with all necessary supporting documents. The petition is to be served by certified mail on respondent at FCI Oxford, the local United States Attorney, and the United States Attorney General, in accordance with Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 4(i).
