MINUTE ORDER issued by Courtroom Deputy for Magistrate Judge Allison Claire on 06/24/2026. This case was initiated in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, while petitioner was detained at the Desert View Facility in Adelanto, California, which lies within the Central District's jurisdiction. On 6/12/26, petitioner moved 19 to transfer this action from the Central District to this court under 28 U.S. § 1404(a), solely on the ground that petitioner had been transferred to a facility within the Eastern District's jurisdiction. Respondents stated they did not oppose the request to transfer venue 21 . In light of the parties' consent, the motion to transfer was granted 22 on 6/18/26. Respondents have now filed a notice 26 that petitioner had been transferred back to the Desert View Facility on 6/17/26, meaning he is once again detained within the Central District's jurisdiction. Within three days, the parties shall show cause why this action should not be transferred back to the Central District and remain there. See 15 Wright & Miller's Federal Practice & Procedure § 3846 (4th ed. 2026) ("retransfer is perfectly appropriate... on a showing of changed circumstances, particularly when such developments would frustrate the purpose of the change of venue."); Francis v. Rison, 894 F.2d 353, 354 (9th Cir. 1990) ("jurisdiction attaches on the initial filing for habeas corpus relief, and it is not destroyed by a transfer of the petitioner and the accompanying custodial change" (citation omitted)).
