PAPERLESS ORDER denying Petitioner Jorge Hernandez Almenteros's 1 Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus (the "Petition"). In his Petition, Petitioner asks the Court to order his immediate release from custody because his detention has been unreasonably prolonged. [ECF No. 1 at 6-7]. The record shows, however, that Petitioner was ordered removed from the United States in 1996. [ECF No. 5-11]. Because the detention of noncitizens who have been ordered removed is mandatory under 8 U.S.C. § 1231(a)(2)(A), and Petitioner's detention has not yet exceeded the presumptively reasonable period, see Zadvydas v. Davis, 533 U.S. 678, 683 (2001), Petitioner is not eligible for a bond hearing or release on bond at this time. Accordingly, the Petition is DENIED. The case is CLOSED. Signed by Judge Darrin P. Gayles on 6/30/2026. (hs01) (Entered: 06/30/2026)
